The Sports Project Fund

The Junior Treasurer administers the sports project fund which is an amount of money which SSCSU can allocate the affiliated sports clubs to cover unexpected expenses. In the past the fund has assisted SSCSU sports clubs purchase new sports equipment and kit when existing equipment has reached the end of its useful life. Any club or society whose captain believes their club may be entitled to funds from the Sports Project Fund should contact the Junior Treasurer detailing what the unanticipated expense is and how much money is required.   The Junior Treasurer shall decide whether any funds should be allocated. The Junior Treasurer has sole discretion in deciding whether to allocate funds; in deciding whether to entertain the application the Junior Treasurer shall have regard to the amount of money being requested; the financial position of the fund; the amount of students involved in the activity and why there is a pressing need for the funds. The Junior Treasurer may allow funding part from the Sports Project Fund or he may ask that the individual club funds part of its request from its existing funds. If the Junior Treasurer refuses an application he shall reply to the club’s captain explaining the reasons for the decision, similarly he should liaise with the respective captain to arrive at a compromise if he feels unable to accommodate the full request. All allocations shall be subject to the approval of an Open Meeting. The resolution authorising the allotment must be submitted by the respective captain to the Open Meeting via the Vice President in accordance with the current procedural regulations.
