Undergraduate Admissions Assistant
Closing date: Monday 13 September 2010
The College wishes to appoint an Undergraduate Admissions Assistant for a fixed term from Monday 25 October to Wednesday 22 December 2010: the role requires familiarity with the College structure and its admissions procedures, and applications from recent graduates are therefore especially welcome.
The postholder will work in the Admissions Office, helping with the management and running of the admissions round and reporting to the Admissions Officer. Duties will include: receiving and dealing with application forms and supporting material; scheduling and sending invitations to interview; arranging and invigilating admissions tests; helping to co-ordinate student volunteers during the interviews; and producing offer letters. The Admissions Office operates within an integrated Tutorial Department, whose staff and officers routinely co-operate and assist one another at times of peak demand: at the discretion of the Admissions Officer, the Admissions Assistant may undertake occasional tasks of broader tutorial business.
In addition to a salary of £300 per week, the Admissions Assistant will be entitled to a single room on the College site, and a free lunch in the dining hall on duty days.
Working hours will be 37.5 per week. Office hours are normally 9am to 5.30pm, with a one-hour lunch break. Some flexibility will be required (including evening and occasional weekend work) to meet the demands of the admissions season, and this will be compensated by time off in lieu.
To apply, please send a short CV and a letter explaining why you are interested in and would be suited to the post, to the Admissions Director, Dr Kirsten Dickers (kjd23@cam.ac.uk). Interviews will be held in the week commencing Monday 27 September 2010.
