When: Friday 30th January, 7.30pm
Where: Emmanuel URC (opposite Pembroke)
How much: £7.00 , or £8.00 on the door
Cambridge University Amnesty International is hosting an exciting ceilidh on Friday 30th January! This will be a super evening of Scottish dancing and live music, with the fantastic Cambridge University Ceilidh Band. The ceilidh is going to be gender neutral, meaning that there will be no gendered calling. Everyone is welcome – the band provides a ‘caller’ who will teach the dance steps so it doesn’t matter if you’ve never been to a ceilidh before. Free soft drinks will be provided, and all profits will be going to Amnesty International. Looking forward to seeing you there!
Cambridge Marrow is back with the first event of the term – this is your chance to give just 15 minutes and a spit to join the Anthony Nolan Marrow Donor Register and potentially give someone with a blood cancer like leukaemia a second chance at life.
Donating marrow isn’t as scary as you may think – the process is similar to giving blood and you only donate if a match is found (a 1 in 100 chance).
We’ll be in Benson Hall on Tuesday 27th January, so pop along anytime between 2.30 and 5.30pm to give a spit, save a life!
For more info on the donation process, check out our handy myth-busting factsheet – https://docs . google . com/document/d/1nr8aQV2skD2lXPwO7yZSK1eAalC2tDN21peVG4fO4As

The SSCSU website now hosts an anonymous messaging system to increase the ease with which students can contact the student welfare team. As the name suggests, no sign-in is required so all messages are anonymous, the student being able to return to the conversation by pasting in their randomly generated conversation ‘code’.
You can find the system by clicking on the ‘welfare’ tab in the top right hand corner of this page and selecting ‘anonymous message’ from the list on the left. The officers able to answer messages are the male and female social welfare officers, the academic welfare officer, the LGBT+ officer, the women’s officer, the disabled students’ officer and the BME officer.
While any of the above officers can answer the message, once the conversation begins it is kept private between correspondents. If you have any questions feel free to email an officer via the committee page or use the new anonymous message system!
Remember: No problem is too big or too small; if its bothering you then we want to hear about it. Questions, problems or just a vent about life are all welcome 🙂
Welfare love xxx
