Hall serve 3 meals a day on weekdays in full term, brunch and dinner on Saturdays and dinner on Sundays. The food is good quality and reasonably priced, and generally there is a very good selection. Hall also offer a number of formal dinners each week on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday throughout full term.
Breakfast is served for students 8 till 9 am Monday to Friday throughout term. On offer is a full English breakfast or continental options, including toast, cereal and fruit.
Lunch is served from 12:30 pm till 1:30 pm Monday to Friday.
Dinner is served from 5:45 pm till 6:30 pm all days of the week. Dinner is far the most popular meal that Hall serves, so there is often a long queue to get in – either get there early to get a place in line or wait a bit to get your food, but its well worth it! In the summer term you can take food out into the gardens and enjoy it in the wonderful scenery.
Brunch is served only on Saturdays a forms a staple of many students weekend routine (wake-up, Saturday lectures, brunch, sleep – ideally!). Its served at the same time lunch is usually served and provides a wide array of cooked and non-cooked options. If you’re new to Sidney, this is definitely something to try!
Formal hall is a 3-course sit down meal, served by the catering staff on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. You must book online through Sidnet in advance (www.sid.cam.ac.uk/sidnet/student/raven-auth/hall/), and you can book in up to 3 guests. Dinner starts at 7:30pm and all are expected to be seated by this time, so make sure to arrive a bit earlier! It’s worth noting that wine must be purchased from the college buttery.
Some more information about hall can be found on the college’s website.
